Role of Hariawal Punjab Mission in Water Conservation & Recharge

Since 2018, the Hariawal Punjab Mission has been at the forefront of water conservation and groundwater recharge efforts across Punjab. Guided by experts from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), the mission focuses on sustainable water management through community-driven initiatives.

Key actions include:

  • Promoting rainwater harvesting and construction of recharge pits in villages and urban areas.
  • Encouraging farmers to adopt water-efficient irrigation techniques and crop patterns.
  • Spreading awareness about reducing water wastage and protecting water bodies.
  • Implementing community monitoring systems to track groundwater levels and recharge effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with local bodies to restore traditional water harvesting structures.

Together, these efforts have contributed to reviving groundwater tables, ensuring water security, and promoting long-term ecological balance in Punjab.
